CEO, Kewalram Chanrai Group

Mr. Narain Girdhar Chanrai is CEO of the Kewalram Chanrai Group, a family owned but professionally led enterprise with widely diversified business in the automotive, IT, agriculture, waste recycling and finance sectors. The Group employs more than 5,000 people in 17 countries. An economics graduate from the University of London, he has worked in various operations of the Kewalram Chanrai Group in Africa, United Kingdom and Asia. He therefore has wide experience over various operations, finance, general management in diversified sectors and geographies. From 2005 to 2015 he also served as a non-executive director of Olam International Limited, a listed company on the Singapore Stock Exchange. During that time, he was a member of audit and compliance, governance and nomination, risk capital and investment and corporate responsibility and sustainability committees of the board. In 2013, the Kewalram Chanrai Group was awarded the inaugural EY-Barclays Family Business Award of Excellence. The Group is also known for its philanthropic initiatives in health care, education and the arts, backed by the family’s philosophy to enhance and improve the communities in the countries in which it operates.
